Working out which are the best beauty products to invest in during your teenage years can be tricky: it's a time when many teens battle spots and skin is normally on the oilier side and understandably you want solutions, fast!  Find out which products I think are worth investing in to keep things under control !
There are so many products aimed at teens that promise to help clear the skin or conceal blemishes - and it really is great to have so many choices available, but that can also be overwhelming.  You don't want to be wasting your money on buying the wrong things that don't suit your skin or the makeup shades that just don't suit you.

SKINCARE
During the teenage years, most people's skin becomes a little oilier, especially down the t-zone and may start to get a few spots for the first time. It's really important not to strip your skin of the natural oils - honestly, it doesn't help and can actually make things worse.  You need to be looking for skincare that will help to balance the skin and regulate it and I urge you try and get into good skincare habits early on; it will serve you well for the rest of your life.

Arbonne Gentle Daily Cleanser - This is the cleanser that my 14 year old daughter, Grace uses.  She's got very sensitive skin, but this is one of the few things she doesn't react too. It also helped to clear up her skin when she first got a few spots and a lot of her friends have consequently started using it too. She has beautiful skin now, so it's obviously worked well!

Intensive Blemish Calming Lotion - I love this cream, it is one of my beauty kit essentials.   I use it myself the minute I feel a spot coming on.  You only need a tiny bit - dab it onto the spot or the area you feel that the spot is coming up and leave - very often the spot never arrives - I love it!

ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths - These are super easy to use and gently and easily clean skin to remove all traces of makeup and dirt, even waterproof mascara.

Mattifying Blemish Lotion - It's important to start moisturising early on to keep your skin in good condition and this moisturiser from Arbonne is a great one if you want to keep shiny skin at bay. Apply in the morning under makeup or just on its own to hydrate skin with a shine free finish.

LA Girl Pro BB Cream - BB Cream is a super light, natural option, great for making your skin look more even. You don't need anything as heavy as a foundation when you're a teenager, so keep it light and fresh with a BB cream instead and just use a concealer wherever you feel you need heavier coverage.

CoverFX Cream Concealer - If you do have anything you really want to cover up like a stubborn spot, then this concealer works really well and is really long lasting. It's water based and contains anti-inflammatory ingredients to help treat any problem areas whilst it covers. You only need a tiny bit, and it's best applied with a small brush just where you need it to stop the concealing looking too heavy.

Arbonne's The Real Conceal Liquid Concealer is a lighter option and works well to cover any bits of redness in the skin, which often occur around the nose and on the chin. Apply to the area and blend out using your finger to keep it looking natural.

If you do get oily throughout the day, try using these blotting papers from Bosica. They are 100% natural and formulated using charcoal with works to absorb excess oil at the same time as purifying the skin and keeping pores clean and refined.

Brows
Fortunately, due to current model icons like Cara Delevingne, full brows are all the rage once again, so most teenagers don't over pluck like it was fashionable to do when I was  teen!
  • Shasta Brow - If you do happen to have a tweezer  mishap and regret the style you've created, or you want to strengthen our brows, then this castor oil brow treatment is amazing.
  • Shape It Up Tinted Brow Cream - Comes in light/medium or medium/dark shades.  Its super simple to use and is great for creating fuller, thicker looking brows with natural results.  Tip: Brush through the brows combing upwards.
  • Eye Brow Gel - If you've got naturally thick brows or they tend to be a little unruly, then set in place using a clear brow gel to keep them in a nice shape all day.
  • Anastasia Brow Definer - If you aren't naturally blessed with perfect brows or you have any gaps in them then use a brow pencil to lightly create a shadow effect to fill the shape in. Be light with the pencil and avoid doing a strong block shapes as it looks heavy and harsh.
  • Rubis Classic Slant Tweezers - You might want to take the odd hair from between the middle of the brows or just the odd one or two from underneath to keep the shape neat.

So this is the first in my series of teen beauty.  Let me know if there are any particular areas you would like me to focus on, or tell me what your favourite products are ?
