Glossier's motto: skin first makeup 2nd is something I'm totally in agreement with. It's true that our makeup will only look as flawless as our skin beneath it. So I was excited to try a selection of their products now that they are shipped to the UK. Boy Brow – This stuff is gold. I've heard loads of makeup artists and beauty editors rave about it, and I was slightly concerned that it might underwhelm. However this is definitely my new go to brow product. I use the shade “brown". This is by far the best brow mascara I’ve ever tried. It fluffs up and thickens your brows and keeps them in place all. day. long.
Stretch Concealer – I'm not the biggest fan of concealer - I think that they all end up creasing and sinking into any fine line or wrinkle you may have, but this formula is extremely buildable and doesn’t seem to crease as the day goes on. I got it in shade “light” but wish I had purchased in a darker shade. It functions as a bit of a highlighter since the shade is slightly lighter than I would prefer for my under eyes. This product would be perfect if you don't suffer from darkness under your eyes and are just looking to lift the colour of the under eye. If you truly suffer from dark circles then this isn't the product for you and will disappoint - don't waste your money. Haloscope – I didn’t expect to love this nearly as much as I do. If you’re going from that “lit from within glow” this product delivers! It reminds me of the RMS luminizer but without the hefty pricetag and unhygienic pot. I love how easy this product is to apply. If you brush it along your skin it doesn’t go on too heavy. all you need is a finger to blend. It’s basically foolproof, easy to layer if you want a little more glow, and super subtle. Some might say too subtle, but I say nay! I’ve fooled all of my coworkers and friends with this highlighter. I even stopped using my beloved Buxom. Which now looks TOO shimmery compared to Glossier’s version. I have all three shades but TOPAZ, bronze-y shade that I expected to love, actually is my least favourite and I don't really use at all. My favourite for everyday is "Quartz" which is a natural sheeny pearl. It looks fab on the bridge of your nose, the top of your cheekbones and on your cupid's bow. I find I can reapply it to freshen up my face if by the afternoon I'm looking dry and drab. Cloud Paint – As I've got older blush has become an important part of my makeup routine. I'm not talking bright pink streaks up my face - but just a subtle pop of colour helps me look more youthful. These gel based ones are easy to use (I just apply with my fingers) and extremely build-able. I can see why some people would love these, but they just didn’t work on my skin as well as I wanted them too. Haze was too pink for me, and Beam felt too orange. Sadly this won't be replacing my Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush which remains my all-time favourite cheek tint. Generation-G Lipstick - Glossier claims it is “a new kind of lip colour that gives the look and finish of a stain, but that glides on and wears like a tinted balm.” They are not entirely wrong. This lipstick does seem a little different than other lip products I’ve tried. The finish is very much a tinted balm but I found this product to be quite dry and not very moisturising - I'd say don't waste your money with this product. So my overall view of Glossier makeup is a bit hit and miss. Some products I love and others have sadly underwhelmed. To be honest I think these products are probably aimed at teenage girls who have naturally beautiful plump glowing skin, and not a middle aged woman! Have you invested in Glossier products? I'd love to know your hits and misses. Emma x
