Review: Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint

Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint
This is the latest addition to my kit, so today I am introducing a new brand (I've not used her makeup products before now) and new product.  For those who haven't come across her before, Jillian Dempsey is a celebrity makeup artist with a client list that includes Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Stewart, and more. She has a very relaxed and chic distressed style to her makeup looks. Jillian has two cosmetic items under a self named brand Jillian Dempsey; she’s created a creamy kohl eye pencil and the eye tint a satin shadow, both are cruelty-free and vegan.
I have initially bought 2 of her lid tint shades: bronze and ruby red.  The Jillian Dempsey lid tint is not your run of the mill cream eye shadow: I would describe it as a sheer eye balm.  It creates a lovely glossy sheen on the eye.  This is the closest you will get to a wearable gloss on the eye.  Jillian Dempsey’s new lid tints will make you rethink your routine, I know they did mine.

You can apply the eye tint alone or below and above eye shadow, I have personally found it best applies with first a finger then using a dense brush to diffuse the edges.

I expected the Bronze shade to be more of a warmer golden brown instead is more of a neutral minky brown, which is fine, just not the exact shade I was hoping for. The texture is similar to a tinted lip balm but for the eye, it does not dry or set but stays movable and reflective. This is something that is going to crease but it was really created to suit those who like a chic, distressed eye look.   Personally I wouldn't worry about the creasing as how often do you stand talking to people with your eyes closed - I'd say almost never, so the creasing will be invisible to others!

The ruby shade is not the sort of colour I would normally reach for.  However it is promoted as making green eyes pop - so I thought lets give it a go!  Because its very sheer and not opaque - it's a very subtle shade of red - and yes it makes my green eyes pop.  It also works wonders on blue eyes too.  Like all of the lid tints it is super easy to apply and you'd be hard pushed to have a makeup disaster with this product.  What I love about this shade is that it also works for a pop of colours on the cheek or a slick of colour on the lips.  For the super low maintenance woman this is one great product.  Or if you are looking to travel with a minimal makeup kit - this products along with a black eyeliner, mascara and tinted moisturiser/BB cream could suffice.

Would love to know if you have tried this product, particularly if you've tried other shades - I'm trying to workout which others I should invest in - and what your thoughts are.
