Having sensational skin at every age is something we all yearn for, but accomplishing this can be challenging. With all the pollutants in our environment, the harmful rays of the sun, and the stress just to name a few, it seems impossible to have great skin way past our 20's. But no worries... I'm going to share with you some tips that will help you fight ageing and keep your skin glowing at any age. Read on to learn how! Give Your Skin Some TLC
As we age our skin changes. Discoloration, dullness, wrinkles, sagging and dryness are issues we face as we get older. To help with these issues…cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize using anti-ageing products. Exfoliate 1 to 3 times a week with an exfoliant that has alpha hydroxy acids. This will remove dead skin cells and give the skin a glow. Use a serum and moisturizer that are packed full of antioxidants, retinol and vitamin C. Antioxidants fight against free radicals, retinol speeds up cell turnover, and vitamin C helps with collagen production, decreasing sagging skin. When applying any products on the skin, be gentle. The skin on the face is thinner and more delicate than the skin on the rest of your body. Hydrate With Water The skin is the largest organ in our body. When the toxins in our bodies build up, they get trapped under the skin. Water helps flush out the toxins and waste matter from our body, which in turn can help to give us clear skin. Water helps carry nutrients to each of the cells in our bodies, including the skin and improves circulation. Also, your body is comprised of about 70% water. Everything we do in a day, such as exercising even talking, depletes the water from our bodies. So it’s important to replace the water we loose each day, to hydrate the body as well as our skin. Raise Your Heart Rate Exercising raises your heart rate which gets the circulation and blood flowing. This improves your circulation and oxygen capacity, therefore improving your skin complexion. Eat Foods High In Omega 3 & Antioxidants Omega 3 fatty acids helps produce oil production to increase hydration and slow down the aging process. Antioxidants prevent the effects of free radicals which causes damage to skin cells, thus accelerating the aging process. Eating foods high in omega 3 and antioxidants such as flaxseed, chia seeds, blueberries, cherries, dark leafy greens, red and kidney beans will help keep your skin looking young and beautiful. And you can always take a supplement for an added boost of the Omega's. Please feel free to message me if you'd like a recommendation Get Plenty of Sleep The old saying “get your beauty sleep” has much truth to it. Sleep allows your body and skin to restore and rejuvenate. Lack of sleep reduces your skin’s ability to stay hydrated, which causes dullness and dryness. Sleep deprivation also increases stress hormones that causes inflammation which accelerate aging. A good night of 7 to 8 hours of sleep on a regular basis will help your skin stay healthy. Emma x
