The Trial Makeover

Every bride I have ever met feels an enormous amount of pressure to look perfect on their wedding day.  It is one of the happiest days of your life and everyone will be looking at you and expecting you to look perfect; raidiant and flawless.
There will be hundreds of photos taken of you throughout your wedding day, even when you are getting ready, and the first thing you will notice when you look through your pics, is what you look like.  That is a lot of pressure!

That is why I really think having a hair and makeup trial before your wedding day is so important.  I've compiled a list of my top 5 reasons why I think it is imperative to book that trial!

1. To take the stress out of the morning of your wedding.
Having a hair and makeup artist turn up and know exactly how you wish to have your hair and makeup done on your special day is a big stress taken off your shoulders.  Let someone else worry about blending, eyeliner flicks and perfect hair.

Booking in a trial will also help you to build a relationship with your chosen hair and makeup artist and leave your feeling safe in the knowledge that if you have a last minute change of heart on your lipstick shade, the night before your wedding, you can discuss it with someone that understands why it is important to you ... without thinking that you are a bridezilla.

2. So you can wear the products ahead of your big day and see how they sit on your skin.
Everyone's skin is different and even when they seem to tick every box that they need to, it doesn't always mean that it will last well on your skin.  The best thing to do is to book in your trial with a makeup artist that uses high-end professional quality products, primers and fixing sprays.

Try to book in your trial as early as possible in the day, so that you can really test it and see if it lasts all day and evening.  Makeup will only stay on for a certain amount of time, so you will need to top up throughout the day, but on the whole you want to know that you will be looking as good in the first photo as well as the last.

3.  Learn new tricks
Hair and Makeup trials take, on average, 2-3 hours and you will go through, in detail different looks, and you will get to try different foundations and colours.  It isn't a quick makeup application.  It is often a mini makeup lesson as you will discuss skin tones, textures, and application techniques.  It is a great opportunity to learn tips and tricks and find out about new products and colours that work for you.

4. Discussing Skincare
Your makeup will only ever look at its best if your skin is in tip top condition.  It is really important before your wedding to book in a course of facials so that your skin is glowing on your big day.  It may sound like an unnecessary indulgence, but when you are spending £££'s-££££'s on wedding photography you will want your skin to be at its best.  Your makeup artist will also thank you for it as a good skincare routine can help your products to stay on for longer and stop foundation sitting in your pores.

5. Find out what products you will need to buy for the day of the wedding
Makeup will only stay on as long as it is designed to, and if you are lucky enough to get married on a gorgeously hot summers' day, you will absolutely need to top your t-zone with powder.  Lip colour will need refreshing after the ceremony, before the group photography and after the meal

That is why it is important to discuss with an expert how your makeup will wear throughout the day, and what you may need to do to keep it looking picture perfect all day long.  You will not want to be worrying about your skin looking shiny on the day of your wedding.

A trial isn’t only a great opportunity to find out how good your makeup artist is, but it is a great time to discuss ideas, learn new techniques and build a relationship with your makeup artist. So that on the morning of your wedding you know that you are in good hands, making the whole day very special.
